Fish swimming in the water, swallows flying overhead, ducks waddling below our balcony. These are just a few of the many daily reminders that we have of how lucky we are to be located in the heart of Ferry Meadows.
As well as enjoying the wildlife on our doorstep though, we also like to give back so do all we can to support the local environment as much it supports us – something we discuss in this previous post.
But it’s not just the surrounding nature that makes us feel fortunate to be located where we are. Our amazing customers also keep us thanking our lucky stars on a daily basis. And just as we like to show our gratitude to the environment, we like to acknowledge the local community where we can too.
Examples of this include preferring local suppliers over national companies, and hosting an annual Contact the Elderly tea party at Christmas. More recently, we have also started sponsoring young local swimmer Connor Walker.
The talented 14-year-old competes regionally and nationally for Peterborough, and recently won the Eastern Region Open Water 1km Swim in Norwich.
Connor also participated in the 2018 British Swimming Nationals, which took place in Sheffield last week. Flying the flag for the City of Peterborough Swimming Club, Connor did exceptionally well, finishing 12th in his age group for both the Open 200m Butterfly and Open 100m Butterfly heats.
With our support, we hope that Connor will be able to maintain his love of swimming and work towards future successes without having to worry too much about the various costs involved. Since our partnership began, Connor has so far been able to buy himself some new swimming gear, including goggles and trunks.
We will continue to post about Connor’s swimming achievements on the blog, so make sure you check back to see what he’s been up to. In the meantime, if you’d like to keep abreast of the local swimming scene, head over to the City of Peterborough Swimming Club website for information on upcoming events.
