Looking for some outdoor egg-citement over the Easter break? Check out these 10 fun activities taking place at Ferry Meadows.
1. Holiday Trail
8 – 22 April, 10 am.
Kick off the holidays with a fun trail as you make your way around Ferry Meadows hunting for clues, before returning to the Visitor Centre to collect your prize.
The trail starts at the Visitor Centre, located at the entrance of Ferry Meadows.
£1 per sheet, no booking required.
2. Climbing Wall
8 – 14 and 16 – 22 April, 10:30 am.
Scale new heights on the Nene Outdoors mobile climbing wall, which you can find just outside Lakeside Kitchen & Bar.
£5 per person, no booking required.
3. Frog Life – Dragon Fun Day
9 April, 10:30 am – 3:30 pm.
Hop over to the Discovery Den for amphibian and a reptile themed quiz, information and crafts.
This family friendly drop-in event is free so no booking is required.
4. Wild Wednesdays
10 and 17 April, 10 am.
Join in with seasonal and wild crafts, suitable for children of all ages – as well as parents.
No booking is required for this drop-in event, which takes place at the Discovery Den.
£1 per child, to be paid on the day.
5. We’re Going on a Bear Hunt
11 April, 10:30 am and 1:30 pm.
Enjoy a craft session and story, before you go in search of Barney the Bear – don’t forget to bring your own teddy bear to help you as you go.
The trail to find Barney lasts around 30 minutes and some portions may not be suitable for all types of wheelchairs and pushchairs.
Suitable for children 3 years and above. Younger siblings may attend but must have a booked place if they take part.
This event costs £5.50 per participating child, meet at the Visitor Centre.

6. Bushcraft Skills – Elder Crafts
13 April, 10:30 am and 1:30 pm.
Join a Nene Park Forest Schools Leader and learn how to use bushcraft tools to transform Elder sticks into a variety of crafts such as beads and jewellery.
This event is suitable for everyone aged 7 years and above. Children must be accompanied by an adult, maximum of two children per adult.
£5.50 per person, booking required – buy tickets.
7. MAD – Multi Activity Day
15 – 19 April, drop off at around 8:30 am and pick up at around 5:30 pm.
Make new friends and learn and develop skills during this action packed week of exciting activities. You can choose to participate on as many or as few days as you like, from one day to the entire week.
Suitable for children aged between 8 and 16 years of age. Activities will take place on both water and land.
£37 per day or £170 for the full week – buy tickets.
8. Pond Dipping
15 April, 12 am – 3 pm.
Find out which creatures live in the lakes of Ferry Meadows at this fascinating pond dipping event. Meet at Lynch Lake, on the corner nearest the Visitor Centre.
Suitable for children aged 5 years and above.
This drop-in event is free so no booking is required – although donations are welcome.
9. Easter Egg Hunt
19 and 21 April, 10:30 am and 1:30 pm.
The poor Easter Bunny has lost all of his eggs – can you and your family help him to find them?
Starting at the Discovery Den, follow clues around the park to relocate the misplaced eggs. The route stays on accessible paths but the distance may be challenging for some younger children.
£5 per person, buy tickets.
10. Easter Bunny & Bonnet Fun Run
22 April, 10 am.
Walk, jog or run this family (and dog) friendly 3k route through Ferry Meadows.

Lakeside and Ferry Meadows Café
If you start getting a bit peckish during your Easter exertions, both Lakeside and Ferry Meadows Café will be on hand to provide you with some much needed sustenance – including fresh, seasonal salads to help counteract all that chocolate!
