Christmas is always one of the most magical times of year to be at Ferry Meadows. The wintry weather can create some enchanting views and there are plenty of festive events to get involved with. In this post, we take a look at what’s going on at the park and how you can join in.

Sue Ryder Santa Run

Held in support of the Sue Ryder Thorpe Hall Hospice, this Father Christmas themed run takes participants along a 5k route through the grounds of Nene Park. You can take the course at your own pace, whether you want to jog, walk or be pulled along in a sleigh by reindeer.

Entry costs £10 for children and £15 for adults, you will receive a Father Christmas suit and be awarded with a commemorative medal upon finishing the course. Dogs are more than welcome to take part too and they even have their own best dressed competition, which you can enter on the day.

The run takes place at 9:30 am on 17 December, if you want to join in sign up at www.eventbrite.co.uk/peterborough-santa-run-walk (external link: opens in new tab).

Christmas Tree Decoration Making

Need some extra decorations for your Christmas tree or just fancy getting creative with some festive fun? Then this decoration making event is tailor made for you. With nothing more than clay and your own two hands, you will learn how to fashion a beautiful decoration, which you can then take home to hang pride of place on your tree.

This free event is taking place on 21 Dec, there is no need to book – just drop in to the Discovery Den any time between 10 am and 12 noon.

Christmas Day Park Run

With its festive cheer and fancy dress, Peterborough parkrun makes jogging on Christmas Day a more appealing proposition than perhaps it sounds. The free event starts at 9 am just outside our sister venue Ferry Meadows Café, before taking you along a 5k route around Overton Lake.

You can turn up to the event on the day; however, if you want your run timed you should register here (external link: opens in new tab) to receive a barcode, which you can then print off and take to the run.
