October Half Term Trail

20 October every day throughout the school holidays

Collect your free trial sheet from Visitor Centre and go on an adventure in pursuit of clues around Ferry Meadows. Complete the trail and return to Visitor Centre to collect a prize.

This event is suitable for all ages and all abilities, traversing as it does an easy access route.

Time: 10am

Cost: £1


Moments with Trees – Tree Hunt & Broomsticks

Monday 22 until Thursday 25 October

A witch has lost some of her items in the trees at Ferry Meadows and needs some help finding them. In return for your assistance, she’ll reward you with the materials you need to make your very own broomstick.

Nene Park provides all necessary material for this event.

There are four events at different locations around the park on four separate days:

Monday 22 – Woodston Reach, meet at Orton Mere Car Park

Tuesday 23 – Thorpe Meadows, meet at Thorpe Meadows Car Park

Wednesday 24 – Ferry Meadows, Bluebell Wood, meet at Milton Ferry Bridge.

Thursday 25 Ferry Meadows, Ham Mere, meet at Badger Play area

Time: 10am until 3:30pm

Cost: there is no charge for this event thanks to Heritage Lottery Funding


Seasonal Crafts

Wednesday 24 October

This event is open to both children and adults and offers the chance to learn a few fun seasonal crafts. The event is drop in so no booking is required.

Time: 10am

Cost: £1 per child


Moments with Trees – Folklore Tree Walk

Thursday 25 October

Join a Nene Park Ranger for a walk around Ferry Meadows to learn about the fascinating stories that surround the trees at the Park, as well as the mysterious histories.

This event is aimed at those 16 years and above and the route includes some difficult terrain.

Meet at Information Centre

Time: 1:30pm

Cost: this event is free thanks to Heritage Lottery Funding


Shelter Building

Saturday 27 October

Find out how to build a wild shelter and have a go and creating your own.

This event is suitable for children over 7 years old only.

All children must be accompanied by an adult, with a maximum of two per adult.

Time: one session at 10:30am and another at 1:30pm

Cost: £3 per child
